Magician Dental Supply signCategory: Advertising | Date: 1940's | Type: Other | Condition: Excellent | Maker: Unknown | Packaging: none | Customized Coe Products(a Dental Supply Company)advertising sign used by a salesman at Dental Trade Shows and conventions. The salesman was a magician who did magic tricks to attract crowds. The sign is about 24-inches long and 21-inches high. The sign itself is made of a plexiglass-like substance with 3-D letters. The magician cut-out is made of a thin sheet of plywood, with miniature cards affixed. There is a hole in the lapel where a (squirting?)flower can be inserted. Very unusual and a great display piece. Magic has been used by salemen to draw a crowd for many years. Remember the "Snake Oil" salesmen of long ago who performed tricks or stunts, before they started their sales pitch? This practice still goes on today as evidenced by the many corporate magicians who work trade shows year-round. | |
